“The Whore of Babylon” Californication review

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

californication

You have to love the audacity of Hank. From moment one you see him fighting desperately to ruin his life. Before the credits even roll, he’s picking a fight with the screenwriter who “butchered? his best-seller, and admitting to having slept with his wife. In every room of their house. All while he’s at a reading in a bookstore. And to add insult to injury, Bill’s the one that shows up to pick him up from the police station, and with Becca in the car.

And that’s just the first five minutes of the episode!

“Brick Dance” Weeds Recap

weeds

Now that Nancy’s life (and those of her kids) are officially threatened by U-Turn, you’d think her first order of business would be to get the f*ck out of dodge. Not so, as this newest episode of Weeds opens with Nancy stumbling down the stairs in dirty old pajamas after having slept for almost 24 hours straight. First order of business? Fire Lupita (who has just cooked a meal for the first time in three years) because she has just realized she can’t afford her. She then turns to Andy and the kids for money-making ideas.

MK Parties, Incurs War-Wound.

Mary-Kate Olsen was out and about in Hollywood last night (shock!) and while entering a club she got hit in the head with a camera. Which I guess would explain this ridiculous hat - it caused a bruise that had to be attended to once she got inside. How do you attend to a bruise except to say, “crap, I’ve got a bruise!” is beyond me. At any rate, the pint-sized starlet left looking fine (maybe a little tipsy, but that’s it), so we can all rest easy.

Mary-Kate is currently part of the ensemble Weeds cast, enjoying it’s rock-star third season on Showtime.

Help Build Up A Wiki Page!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

wiki

Showtime has created a Wiki page just for our little Mary-Kate, and it needs some serious lovin’ (wait, did we even know Showtime had it’s own Wiki???). They’ve asked the fans of Weeds to head on over and add to the page, so head over, check it out and sign up if you notice anything missing or incorrect. I’m sure all the MK fans out there have tons to say about the starlet!

(and if you’ve got nothing to add about her, check out all the other cast pages, because they could all use a little lovin’)

“A Pool And His Money” Weeds Review

weeds 3.2

In the second explosive episode of the series, we come in just where we left of, with Nancy and Marvin running into Celia in Nancy’s backyard. From drying the weed in a dryer to confronting Heylia, the episode is rife with drama for Nancy. But she’s not the only one having a hard day!

Screenshots of MK On Weeds Revealed

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Screenshots of Mary-Kate Olsen’s turn on Weeds are starting to surface already. While details of the episodes they’re from are sketchy, you can tell a few things from them. First, she’s friends with/dating Silas, and knows Nancy. Second, she’s most likely supposed to be high at least part of the time. And so with that, I bring you three snaps from MK’s turn on Weeds (although there’s more to come).

Weeds Breaks Records

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

An article in Variety shares some amazing news … Weeds broke records for a Showtime premiere!! With over 800,000 viewers, the tremendous showing also boosted ratings for Californication, helping out a show I’m still on the fence about. I’ll leave you with a link to the full article, and promises that I’ll be a much better blogger next week … life just got the best of me this week is all.

Californicaton “Pilot” review(ish)

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

pilot

I’m just not sure how I feel about Californication. I want to like it. I went into the episode sure I’d love it. And then … and then I don’t know what happened, because by the time the episode was done, I just wasn’t sure anymore.

I love how David Duchovny plays Hank Moody with such dry sarcasm and dead-pan humor. The daughter is genius. I love every single casting choice, to be honest. So that can’t be the problem.

Doing The Backstroke - Weeds recap

Monday, August 13th, 2007

weeds 1

Show of hands. How many of you had already seen the first episode of Weeds before it aired tonite on Showtime? If you’re like me, you’d already seen it because you’re a Showtime Insider. This does not diminish it’s amazingness, however, as I watched it again and loved it all the more. But.

As most of us have already seen it, I’m going to just highlight my favorite parts rather than give a play-by-play.

For starters, I know Celia’s always been a bitch, but when did she go all turbo on all of Agrestic? Not that I don’t enjoy it, because I actually love it, but I wonder when she hit that final hurdle and went from difficult yet lovable to Turbo Bitch. Because taking Silas’ car? Turbo Bitch. Cutting up Nancy’s weed and then soaking it in the pool? Turbo Bitch. No remorse whatsoever about any of it??? Super Turbo Bitch. I cannot WAIT to see how good it gets with her this season!

Dean and Doug, however, had to have shared my favorite scene in the entire first episode. High on Tylonal with Codine, these two decide to jerk off in front of one another to see who’s got the bigger dick. While waiting for their mud masks to dry. While an elementary school graduation party is commencing just outside the bathroom door. Tremendous.

We can’t forget the glue that holds this show together, though. The Bowtin family is dealing with some serious shit in this first episode. Silas is in jail, Nancy has both the Armenians and U-Turn after her, and Shane has been ditched by Kat for a trucker named Bear. We still don’t know if Andy has found him, or if he’s just found the car, but I cannot wait to see how these three find each other again in the second episode!

Clooney to creat a pilot for Showtime!

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

george clooney

George Clooney is rumored to be working on a pilot for Showtime. And when I say rumored I mean he’s done interviews about it!! The show will be called “Doubting Thomas”, and follows the story of a family of televangilists after a scandal forces the elder brother out of the limelight and the younger, prodigal son in. While Showtime hasn’t officially picked up the project, if they do they could start shooting as soon as January! So look for this to show up in you TV Guide soon enough!
