showtime_logo.gif

Sorry for the crappy “what’s new at showtime and with this blog” post, but it’s got to be done. So much is happening so fast, it’s easier to bullet-point it all out for you all.

  • This weekend will be a FREE SHOWTIME WEEKEND! This means tell everyone to watch the new seasons of both Dexter and Brotherhood, and get them hooked! There’s going to be tons of great movies on as well, so you’ll want to set your Tivo’s.
  • Ah yes, that’s right. Dexter and Brotherhood start Sunday night! Look for all the show recaps your little hearts can handle, play by play style even, starting Monday morning!
  • With so many good shows on right now, the site will probably get pretty “recap-heavy” for awhile. But stick with me, because there’ll be some great fun items popping up.
  • Don’t forget Weeds and Californication are still going strong, so keep watching for show notes and pics from those as well!
  • Finally, is there anyone out there that’s a Brotherhood fanatic? I didn’t watch the first season, so I’d love to have some guest posting done from someone who knows more about the show than my complete lack of knowledge.

“He Taught Me How To Drive-By” Weeds Review (part two)

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

weeds-ep-7.jpg

continuing on …

Conrad and Nancy are talking in her car outside the funeral home, and while Nancy’s not so ready to talk to Conrad, he slyly brings up the kiss. Damn, I want them to end up together so bad! He tells her about Marvin getting shot in the ass, and how it might not have been the Mexicans after all, but someone trying to make it look like it was in order to start a huge gang war. That way everyone up their butts would be dead, and they’d be free. My money’s on Heylia, as she’s the only one in Agrestic with the ability to pull some shit like that off.

Poor Shane isn’t getting out of summer school no matter what he tries, partly because Nancy doesn’t want him staying home playing with her video games. He warns her the pedagogy could take root in his brain, turning him into a right-wing narc, and thus solidifying my belief that he’s the best character in the show. And then there’s Tara, all slutty in her off-shoulder shirt sitting at the kitchen counter/breakfast bar all early in the morning. Because she slept over. I love that Nancy immediately brings up Megan and Quinn, reminding him she doesn’t want to go through “that” again. Tara lets Nancy know she has nothing to worry about, as she’s abstaining until marriage, and Silas begrudgingly agrees (you know he thinks he’ll be able to wear her down in a few weeks’ time, the slut!)

Shane starts an evolution vs. creationism debate with Tara, and it’s super awesome!

Andy is at his first catering job, which is strangely for a porn shoot in one of Majestic’s non-purchased houses. Interesting that Sullivan is running a faith-based community and renting the empty houses out for porn shoots. I wonder how long before that becomes public knowledge? Ps, who says “I took you in the ass!” to anyone they don’t know really well, but Andy to the porn guy the strap-on Yael used was modeled after.

Nancy heads over to her employer’s office, and Sullivan’s asking her to legalize his construction crew (illegally, of course, using some payoff money) so that Majestic doesn’t get shut down the way another of his communities has. Celia walks in with lunch for Sullivan, and suggests Nancy gathers all the signatures for the referendum.

Doug and Dean show up to play Andy’s dishwashers. Or so they can watch the porn in progress. Involving two women and a large black man wearing a pirate hat. He’s Captain Jack. Just as one of the women starts hitting on Dean, he’s thrown out for staring at her boobs.

Shane gets into a fight on the playground because he won’t convert to Christianity, and then is saved by this cutie girl he immediately forms a crush on. Of course Shane’s going to fake convert just so he can get in good with the hottie chick, despite his hatred for all things religious. Too bad he’s going to have a fight on his hands for Amelia, as Isabelle forms a crush on her, too.

Nancy and Marvin head off to the meeting with the Mexican gang, and she suggests he not mention them shooting him. When they threaten to shoot Marvin over their “chiva” (which I’m assuming is the heroin Nancy’s got in her house), she figures out it might be the way for her to get herself (and Conrad) out of the horrid situation they’re in. Nice move on her part, as Marvin either wipes her debt clean or he dies because he’s unwilling to let her go free. So she’s finally free of Marvin and U-Turn, but she can no longer deal in the city anywhere. That’s the price of their lives and freedom.

Shane gets blown off for his lunch date with Amelia because Isabelle tells her she thinks she’s gay. Poor Shane didn’t see that coming, and poor Isabelle thinks she can convert Amelia to her team. Hah.

Nancy’s of getting all the illegal aliens their new ids, and also getting them to sign their new names (off their fake ids) on the referendum petition. Which is where she sent the gang members to pick up their heroin. In the pouring rain she heads back to her boss’s office and gets half naked to celebrate her freedom from the gang members. How will this affect Sullivan’s relationship with Celia? Oh, and just as you think it couldn’t get any worse, the rain drags up her dead DEA ex-husband’s body.

Stay tuned next week to see what happens!

“He Taught Me How To Drive-By” Weeds Review (part one)

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

weeds-ep-7.jpg

The new episode opens at U-Turns funeral, and he’s being buried in his hot tub, but only because the boat didn’t fit in the funeral home. Even Conrad and Heylia are there!

Clinique is pregnant, and it turns out it Sanjay’s baby, even though she doesn’t remember the name. All she remembers is that it was an Indian kid she mercy-f*%$d for U-Turn. Nancy meets “Two Strikes” and they reminisce the good things about U-Turn, like Nancy being taught how to drive by.

Two New Wiki Pages Up And Running

Monday, September 24th, 2007

dexterseasonone.jpg

Wiki-mania has been sweeping Showtime lately, and with the success of the Weeds wiki page comes two new additions to the universe of Showtime Wikis.

Now, both Dexter and Californication have wiki sites where fans of the shows can go to fill out pages on characters, actor bios, episode summaries, and more!

Dexter’s wiki page has a bunch of season two predictions where you can weigh in on what you think will (and won’t) happen as he traverses life without his brother. There’s also episode guides, where you can add your favorite moments, quotes and so much more. I’m heading over to help add info on cast members’ bios, as a few of those need some lovin’ still. If you’ve got any great screen shots, candid moments, and more, post them up!

The Californication wiki, on the other hand, has some cool top ten lists, a “californication guide to los angeles” and more to add to the typical cast bios and episode guides. This wiki needs a lot more lovin’ as the show’s newer, so we all need to head on over and give it a ton of the attention it deserves!

And don’t forget about the Weeds wiki, which has filled in nicely thanks to faithful fans heading there to add their thoughts.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers And Friends Attempt To Save Irish Soil

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Hottie Jonathan Rhys Meyers, pal Stuart Townsend, and his new brunette girlfriend (she’s not the same one we saw him with earlier in the month, is she?) met up in Ireland eariler today to join over 1,000 protesters. They’re trying to keep the M3 Motorway from running through historic Hill of Tara. The protesters in Ireland formed a human harp, so a picture could be taken from an airplane, while simultaneous protests were being held in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Why protect a hill? It’s traditionally considered the seat of the High Kind of Ireland, and is home to several ancient monuments. Good for JRM for helping protect this ancient space!

Three more pics below of his hotness King Henry, his new mystery lady, and even one of Stuart. Click on them for full-size images. More can be found over at Just Jared.
