“A Pool And His Money” Weeds Review

In the second explosive episode of the series, we come in just where we left of, with Nancy and Marvin running into Celia in Nancy’s backyard. From drying the weed in a dryer to confronting Heylia, the episode is rife with drama for Nancy. But she’s not the only one having a hard day!
Once Celia leaves (Nancy kicks her out really), Nancy and Marvin start to clean the weed out of the pool, in attempt to save it. U-turn is not too happy that it’s taking so long for them to get back, and says they have to be back by 9pm with or without the weed. He then starts teasing Conrad by pushing the gun closer and closer, tempting him to be thug and snatch the gun away from him. Conrad refuses, rightly so. So funny that Conrad keeps calling U-Turn Louis, which is apparently his real name. Not very thug-life, and it’s no wonder he’s changed it.
Trying to get under Conrad’s skin, U-Turn tries to convince him he should be able to fuck Nancy. “She looks like she kisses really sweet.” It’s just at this moment Sanjay is brought back into the picture with a sneeze and an “I’m Gay!” And here I thought they’d forgotten about Sanjay.
While Sanjay’s coming out to a gangster, Nancy’s drying weed in the dryer and Marvin’s been drying it in the oven. Lupita walks in and Nancy asks which setting on the dryer will dry the weed best. Such a great moment, with Lupita suddenly putting her cleaning skills to use (for once).
Celia’s drunkenly walking down the street, recognized as the “drugs are wrong lady” and she calls herself a crusader. “doing it pro bono” “not asking for acolades” … what a creepster. I’m amazed that she’s turned into such a wanker, because she used to be somewhat cool, even in her craziness and need to be in control.
With the weed all harsh and no high, Marvin and Nancy head out to confront U-Turn. But before they head back to the grow house, Nancy has one last trick up her sleeve.
Andy, meanwile, is at a gas station with the blue van on his way back into Los Angeles when he gets a call from the cops telling him they have Shane. Despite the strange looks he’s getting (busted nose might have something to do with that), he heads into the gas station to get a soda and pay for his gas. Turns out, he’s getting the strange looks because the Amber Alert is still airing, despite Shane having been found, and the people at the gas station think he’s kidnapped Shane! Hah!!
Drunk Celia has turned back up at her house and passed out in the atrium because Dean changed the locks on her. He agrees to let her take a bath, but neither he nor Isabelle is happy she’s there.
In what’s possibly my favorite moment in the episode, Sanjay attempts to explain his homosexuality, the honesty of which must’ve come from being in such a life and death situation. When Conrad asks him about being in love with Nancy, he hilariously responds, “I think that was a judy garland, joan crawford, sarah jessica parker kind of love.” LOVE IT. Even better is when Clinique shows up with sandwiches for the guys, and U-Turn convinces her to have sex with Sanjay to convince him he’s really straight.
Oh, and that trick Nancy had up her sleeve? It’s Heylia. She even has the gall to pick a fight with her, and Heylia rightly whips Nancy’s ass just a bit before grabbing some money and heading off to bail Conrad (and maybe Nancy?) out of the mess they’re in.
The kink in Nancy’s plan? U-Turn wants money for Nancy, but not for Conrad. He wants Conrad to grow weed for him now. And so Heylia and Conrad take off, leaving Nancy with no money and an angry drug dealer. How will she work off the money she ows him (around 100k)? We don’t know the answer to this yet, but Nancy looks understandably horrified that Conrad, whom she obviously has strong feelings for, choose Heylia over her.
Finally able to leave, Nancy heads to the police station where she finds out BOTH her boys are in jail, and a completely beat-up Andy showing up to pick them up as well. Silent the whole way home, Nancy strips down and jumps into her pool (still with remnants of pot) and screams under the water.
Is this rock bottom? Here’s hoping, because life can’t get much worse for Nancy. I can’t wait for next week to see what happens!
