Another New L Word Cast Member!
With just six Sundays before the ladies of The L Word return to our televisions, there’s all sorts of spoilers and new cast members being announced. Next up on the new cast list is Patricia Velasquez.
This amazing actress started her career as an international supermodel, and transitioned flawlessly to film and television with roles in both Latin and American movies and tv shows. Most recognized for her role as “Ank Su Namun” in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, she has also been seen in America on CSI: Miami and Arrested Development.
Not only is she famous, she also quietly rivals the likes of Angelina Jolie with her charity work. She’s a UNESCO artist for peace and has started her own charity, the Wayuu Taya Foundation, which helps to improve the lives of indigenous Latin American groups while choosing to simultaneously respect their culture and beliefs. Because of her charitable spirit she has been a guest on Oprah and has been featured countless times in the Latin media.
Patricia brings to the L Word a character named Begoña, whose storyline includes the subject of immigration. While she won’t be introduced until later in the season, she says Begoña will become a main character if the show moves into a sixth season! She talks about full details of her character and her time on the show in her blog (although it’s in Spanish, dangit!). I can’t wait for this character (and Patricia) to make her debut!
