Watching Showtime

Billie Piper has graced several news blogs in the past week or so, and so rather than bombard you with a day full of all Billie Piper posts, I’m combining the news into this one longer post.

First and foremost, it looks like Lionsgate Entertainment has assigned a release date of June 30 to the second season of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl! This means you won’t have long to wait at all for more Belle!

It also turns out Billie’s siblings are embarrassed of her. They don’t talk about her successes and when they have friends over to the house, they take down pictures of her. But Piper claims to understand. “They find it embarrassing and I get that… they don’t want my success to become the topic of conversation.”

Finally, it turns out Billie’s a bit out of practice with her high heels. She was spotted heading into a London restaurant (pictured above) wearing some sky-high stilettos, but by the time she left, she was barefoot and carrying the black shoes with pink soles! Sounds like a girl after my own heart!

After the birth of their son, Lawrence Fox went back to work on the British series ‘Lewis’, and he’s been getting some rave reviews. He claims his secret is simply lack of sleep!
“There were some real sleepless nights, and there still are but in a funny way your performance can get a bit better if you don’t sleep,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
“You don’t make as much effort so you come across as more natural, I suppose.
He also claims he had no life other than work or sleep for the six weeks he was filming the drama. And missing his son while at work might have helped fuel his performance as well.

So, having babies as a way to further your acting career? No wonder Angie and Brad are such big stars!

Although they’ve only been parents to son Winston for four months, Billie Piper and husband Laurence Fox are looking to expand their family quickly. In fact, they’re looking to become the British Brad and Angie!

‘Twins would be good,’ he said. ‘We’ll definitely have more babies. Why Not? Why stop at one? I was trying to think of how we can outdo Brad and Ange.

‘We need to recover from the shock of baby number one and then, when we forget how tiring it is, we’ll have another.

Now, in all honesty, I’m sure that Fox is joking with these quotes – or at least he’s not near as serious as the internet is taking him. Both he and Piper have expressed an interest in having more children, so I’m betting Fox was just having some fun with an interviewer by bringing Brad and Angie into the mix. But now that he has, don’t expect this rumor to die anytime soon.

After fanning the flames of an early retirement, Billie Piper has decided to expand her television performances and is set to play a single mom in search of the father she’s never met on an ITV drama.

While studio heads aren’t releasing much info about the role, an insider had this to say:

“Billie’s character sees how the other half live and her old man comes to terms with life on the breadline,” the insider added.

Sounds like it could be a good next role for Piper – wouldn’t want her fans getting used to only seeing her as a fem-bot! Not that anyone’s complaining about Billie’s role as Belle, or her turn on Dr. Who – but to gain experience, she’ll need to take on meatier roles like this.

Even though Billie Piper has moved on from her British breakout role on Dr. Who, she’s still fielding phone calls about the role. Matt Smith, set to play the 11th incarnation of the title character, has been phoning the star to ask advice in playing the role.

Smith has starred alongside Piper in several other shows, including Call Girl, so the pair are close friends, and when he was cast in upcoming seasons, he immediately phoned his good friend to ask her advice on how he should approach the good doc.

Piper’s advice had less to do with how to play the role, and more to do with how to handle the intense fame that comes along with the show.

“Your life completely changes as it’s such a huge show, just about the biggest show on TV. I had no idea what I was getting into. It’s frightening being in that kind of production and having people suddenly know everything about you. He’s just about to embark on that. But I’m a big fan of Matt. He’s a stirring actor and has the right energy for the part of the Doctor. The role is in good hands.”

For those not in the know, Secret Diary Of A Call Girl is based on a blog, that got turned into a book, written by an anonymous real-life call girl in Britain. And while I’d assumed she’d done some research into the role, it seems she hadn’t met the woman she’s portraying until a few simple days ago.

While the woman behind the series has distanced herself from the drama in order to keep her anonymity, Piper finally insisted on meeting her, and had this to say:

“She was great, she was very well turned out, very elegant, amazing rack (breasts)… (and) she was really well educated.”

Piper also completely understands the woman’s desire for anonymity: “She has a different profession now and she wants to keep her anonymity.”

In other Billie news, she appeared on Access Hollywood to promote Call Girl, and took part in their Valentine’s Day special, helping women across America figure out the best saucy outfits to spice up their V-Day festivities.

Conflicting reports abound recently when it comes to our favorite British call girl, Billie Piper. While we all know she’s recently given birth to an adorable son, and she’s admitted to wanting more, and fast, there’s a few new rumors about the starlet that seem to conflict.

First, Broadcast Now is reporting her desire to start her own production company. She’s already being listed as an executive producer on the third season of Showtime’s hit Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, and she wants to use that experience to gain more knowledge of pre-production before launching an indie company with husband Laurence Fox.

Granted, she says she will “maybe start something up” in the future, so you be the judge on whether this conflicts with the next rumor.

Now that she’s in the throes of motherhood, Piper is going to .. take some time off to be with son Winston!

“I’m going to wait for the right thing to come along and until that happens, spend time with my son,” said Billie.

I don’t want to rush into anything that isn’t right or doesn’t inspire me.”

She’s already been scaling back, with nothing in the works after the third season of Call Girl finishes production, so maybe she’s being honest here. And what better way to take time off than to attach yourself as a producer to new projects, so you can work from home in your pajamas, spend more time with your child, and still take in some good revenue.

I’m betting the “taking time off” line will go the way of similar statements from other starlets, however.

Billie Piper spent some time on Carson Daly recently to promote Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, and by the end of her segmen she was blushing like a school girl. The two got into a conversation about British slang, after discussing her choice of butt vs. boob for exposure on the show.

Here’s a few of the gems she shared:

bonk = “like shagging, like sex.”

cheeky = “kind of cute and seductive” but not trashy or seedy

But my favorite, and the one that had her blushing? “There is one called ’sploshing’. It’s basically making love to food.”

Maybe I’ve been missing something, but I don’t think that term has entered into the series yet! Wonder if it’s yet to make an appearance, or if she just studied up on all the various call girl “features”?

If sources are to be believed, it looks like actress Billie Piper could be adding to her family sooner rather than later. Unnamed sources (aren’t they always?) are saying Piper is loving motherhood so much that she’s ready to add to her brood, a mere four months after giving birth to her first child, a son she named Winston.

The source claims not only does Piper think two won’t be much harder than one little one, she and husband, actor Lawrence Fox, would love for little Winston to have a sibling close to his age.

Again, this is simply and unnamed source, so who knows if it’s even remotely true, but with filming not yet set for Call Girl’s third season (is there even going to be a third season?), it’s possible Billie could fit in another pregnancy.

In a series of British tabloid interviews, Billie Piper has been opening up about a variety of things, from her Showtime gig to motherhood to Dr. Who.

After giving birth to son Winston in October, Piper claims she began to realize just how much work goes into caring for a newborn. ‘I have worked some sh**ty hours in my life, but these are the toughest I’ve ever had.’

While she looked great soon after giving birth, Piper says she’s not concerned about losing any baby weight fast. She simply intends to hit a treadmill once filming the third season of Call Girl is set to start.

On the Dr. Who front, it’s been rumored they’re going to make the good doctor a woman in coming seasons, but Piper disagrees with the thought.

“Forgive me, I know it’s not a feminist thing to say, but it’s like saying, ‘Let’s make James Bond a woman.’ It’s a man’s role.”

Before staring on Showtime, Piper broke out of her music career and into acting with a recurring role on the British drama.
