schwag alert!

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

so, with this blog comes a few perks, one of which i’m sharing with you via a contest. i recieved in the mail some sweet Tudors-related schwag and wanted to share the love. so i’m hosting a “name that episode” contest!

all you have to do is watch the upcoming episode of The Tudors. once the episode is over, i’ll open up a thread here for you to comment your title. as the shows don’t already have them, you can feel free to get as creative as you’d like. the best title wins a free Tudors tee (men’s size L) and the runner up gets a sweet keychain.

once the episode is over, you’ll have until Tuesday April 24 at 5pm CST to comment with your title. that will give you a few days to come up with a good one. BUT only one title per person … and the first one will be the one i’ll take. once tuesday at 5pm CST hits, i’ll choose a winner from the comments posted.

So get your brains in gear and get thinking. Get ready for this great contest!

and the winner is …

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Lessa!!! random picking (by having my boyfriend pick a number and then choosing the comment from the list that went with that number), and there she is. the winner!

not that i got anywhere close to the number of comments i wanted to receive. but at least i got some of you out of the woodwork and i got to have a contest, which is always fun.

lessa, i will be e-mailing you to discuss your prize(s) and how to get it all to you! once that’s all figured out, i’ll post some pics of all that she won!

restructuring questions

Friday, March 9th, 2007

okay, so i’ve been considering a restructure of sorts. the beginning of the year has been slow-ish for Showtime, with the L Word being their primary new season. until the end of March, when everything kicks into high gear, and we see three new seasons being brought into the mix. things don’t stop from there, as there are a plethora of new seasons hitting us for the rest of the year.

with this in mind, i’ve been wondering if a few of the things i’ve been doing need to be reorganized (could that have been any more vague?!?!). so i’m putting these questions out there for you all, and hoping i’ll get some comments about what you’d like to see. here are my ideas.

* every saturday/sunday i’d post a “what’s hot for the coming week” type of post, where you’ll get highlights of the coming shows and movies.

* season summaries (possibly divided into two or three posts, at most) instead of episode by episode. as much as i love to get that deep with the shows, i don’t know if i’ll have time for it, and the character arc posts i had talked about doing just don’t do it for me.

* actor bios … this would happen for the actors whose shows are currently on, as well as for the actors who have graced the Showtime channel in the past.

* movie reviews.

* new seasons would obviously still be done episode by episode.

so, the big restructure here would be on the older seasons of shows i’ve been reviewing. which means QAF, Huff, and Weeds would be done much faster. leaving time for some of these other elements, but taking away the fun of episode by episode review.

so now it’s yoru turn. tell me what you think of the restructure i’m contemplating, and if you have any other ideas and suggestions.

and don’t forget your comments here will count towards the contest for Showtime schwag i’m running. you have today’s posts still to get yourself into the drawing which will happen this weekend (winner posted on Monday).

comment contest

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Just a quick reminder to you all that I’m running the comment contest until the end of the week. Every first comment you make to any post I’ve made from last Friday thru to this Friday will go into a drawing and the winner/s will receive Showtime schwag! So get commenting!

contest

it’s because i’m awesome

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

i just discovered i can see what search words people are using to get to this site. and on two separate occasions people have used the phrase …

“popping young cherries”

that’s right, that’s what we do here folks.

i’ve also discovered there’s a lot more of you viewing than are actually commenting in this space. so i’m beginning a comment contest, to run through until next friday. let’s see if we can get me over 100 comments by then. there are, of course, rules.

1. only one comment per entry will count towards the total, so no crazed fans helping me reach my total.

2. no “spam” comments will count.

great, so simple rules. but what’s the prize, you ask??? well, schwag for you, care of Showtime itself! every comment posted between now and next friday that gets me towards my 100 comments will be entered into a drawing. the winner of the drawing will get a sweet little schwag goodie …

hah. not going to tell you! you’ll have to start commenting and help me get to my 100 comments to find out what it is!
