Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter Voted One Of The Best On-Set Love Affairs

Friday, March 20th, 2009

michael-c-hall-jennifer-carpenter-2
In a pretty accurate “top ten” done by Pop Eater, the top ten on-set love affairs were ranked, and Showtime’s very own Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter came in number 6!

Set against some pretty stiff competition, the couple beat out the likes of Ben Affleck/Jennifer Garner (#9) and Tim Robbins/Susan Sarandon (#7) to win their spot.

Ahead of them were Michelle Williams/Heath Ledger (#5) and Ryan Gosling/Rachel McAdams (#3), and taking the coveted #1 spot was the iconic Bogart-Bacall coupling from “To Have and Have Not”.

Surprisingly absent from the list? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. I can only imagine this is due to the clandestine nature of the beginning of their relationship, but it’s interesting to note Deb and Dexter beat them out for a top ten spot. Here’s hoping their marriage works as well as their on-screen chemistry as bother/sister.

Michael C. Hall And Jennifer Carpenter Continue Dexter Promotional Tour

Monday, March 16th, 2009

GERMANY/

Dexter stars (and newlyweds) Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have been traversing the globe recently. And it hasn’t been on a honeymoon. The new couple have been hitting a few European cities to promote the newest season of Dexter, which is finally making it’s way to global audiences. Pictured above, the pair were in Berlin on March 11 where they were bombarded by fans and spent quite a bit of time signing autographs.

What a great way to spend the first few weeks and months of your marriage - from award shows to travelling across Europe, life hasn’t slowed down for the pair yet in 2009. And before they know it, they’ll be back on set to film the fourth season of Showtime’s hit show.

As for next season’s spoilers, the pair aren’t offering anything up yet - chances are they haven’t even seen a script!

Saturn Awards Give The Nod To Showtime

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

The Saturn Awards, a yearly nod to science fiction, horror and fantasy on both the big and small screens, handed out nominations recently, and a few Showtime shows and stars walked away with nods.

First up is Dexter, which is a clear choice for horror on television. It will be up against True Blood, amongst others, for the Syndicated/Cable Televison Series race. Also given the nod are the newlyweds, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall. Each received a nod for their acting performances (she in a supporting role, he in a lead role).

That wasn’t the only nod for Jennifer Carpenter, however. Her most recent movie, Quarantine, was also given a nomination for best Horror film. Here’s hoping the newlyweds can walk away with some trophies!

Michael C. Hall Out And About

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

hall-texting

Michael C. Hall was spotted out and about in Beverly Hills, stopping by (among other stores) Mephisto to do some solo shopping. Despite being seemingly attached at the hip lately with new wife Jennifer Carpenter, the Dexter star took some time to himself. Maybe he was doing some shopping for his bride?!

In just a short time, Dexter will begin filming it’s fourth season, and we’ll get to see the newlyweds pretend to be sister and brother for another season. And while no one’s letting us in on any secrets for the new season, it would seem (based on how the third season ended) that Deb might just find out who her brother really is. Until then, we’ll just have to hope to see more pictures like this one, and even more of the two out and about together!

Happy 38th Birthday Michael C. Hall!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

mch-birthday

I was so busy celebrating the Steelers win at the Super Bowl yesterday that I didn’t get here in time to wish Michael C. Hall a happy birthday! He turned 38 yesterday!

Hall has had a huge year, with Dexter entering it’s 3rd season at the top of the pack, bringing in millions of new viewers to Showtime with the writer’s strike putting he and the rest of Miami PD Homicide on “regular” channels. He quietly dated and married his costar Jennifer Carpenter, and he was nominated several times during awards season.

Now that all the hoopla is done, he and Carpenter are most likely settling in to married life for the short time they’ve got before filming begins again on Dexter’s fourth season. My only question is: what did Deb get Dexter for his birthday?

Wedding Present Ideas For Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter

sag

While on the red carpet at the SAG Awards this past weekend, Julie Benz (who plays Hall’s on-screen wife Rita) joked around about what to get the newlyweds as a present.
Dexter’s Julie Benz joked—at least I think she was joking—that her wedding present to her just married costars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter will be a set of steak knives. “I don’t know what to get them, but isn’t that a great gift?” she asked.
She also commented on their success at keeping it all a secret: “Unlike a lot of Hollywood couples that might flaunt their relationship, [Hall and Carpenter] like to keep it sacred, special and private, and I really respect that,” Benz said. “It’s very hard to do…I don’t know how they managed to do it, but they did.” hard to do…I don’t know how they managed to do it, but they do!”

Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter Shine At SAG Awards

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Once again, Showtime’s fabulous shows were shunned at an awards show. And while I should be sad about it, some amazing shows won awards – it’s a fabulous year for awards shows in general – so I can’t be too bitter. Besides, we got to see our favorite new married couple hit the red carpet for the second time this month!

Newlyweds Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter made their second red carpet appearance in less than a month, and the pair looked much more comfortable in front of the cameras this time around. More smiles, more touching, and in general they looked happier to be the center of all that attention.

While I’d wondered at the Emmy’s why the pair looked so shell-shocked, seeing them this time around, looking much happier and at ease, makes me wonder if they were more nervous about spilling the beans on their wedding earlier in the month!

In any case, Jennifer looked gorgeous (and much less anorexic), and Michael shined as always. While neither walked away with any awards (again), it was good to see them out!

Dexter and Deb Spotted Out To Dinner

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

hallcarpenter

After opening up about their New Year’s Eve marriage while on the Golden Globes red carpet, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have managed to keep a low profile. On Wednesday, however, the pair were spotted out to dinner with friends at Hollywood’s Pace restaurant.

“They were very intimate, but never over-the-top-affectionate,” one observer said. “He had his arm around her at all times and you could see the light golden band on her wedding finger even in the candlelight.”

Looks like the pair won’t be able to keep their marriage as private as they were their dating life – relatively few pictures surfaced of the two together over the course of their year-long courtship. Now that everyone is hot to this seemingly incestuous marriage, there’s bound to be more reports just like this.

SAG Boycott E-mail Garners Fisher’s Apology

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Who knew there could be such drama surrounding the SAG Awards?! Frances Fisher, one of those who helped choose the nominees, apparently sent out an e-mail encouraging other voters to boycott certain actors. And while you’re certainly allowed to have your own opinion, it’s against SAG rules to attempt to influence other voters.

She singled out eight actors in her e-mail to boycott, citing the potential impending actor’s strike as her reason. Once she realized her e-mail had gone to more people than originally intended, however, she issued an apology.

The full list of people she wanted boycotted?

* Alec Baldwin (Male Actor in a Comedy Series nominee for 30 Rock)
* Josh Brolin (Male Actor in a Supporting Role nominee for Milk)
* Steve Carell (Male Actor in a Comedy Series nominee for The Office)
* Sally Field (Female Actor in a Drama Series nominee for Brothers and Sisters)
* Michael C. Hall (Male Actor in a Drama Series nominee for Dexter)
* Susan Sarandon (Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries nominee for Bernard and Doris)
* Tony Shalhoub (Male Actor in a Comedy Series nominee for Monk)
* Kevin Spacey (Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries nominee for Recount).

No official statement has been released from any of these actors.
