Nurse Jackie

Nurse Jackie Preview!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

While we still don’t have a release date for Showtime’s newest comedy, we’re finally getting a glimpse at Nurse Jackie, a brilliant new comedy starring Edie Falco.

Show synopsis: NURSE JACKIE is a half-hour dark comedy that is at turns wicked, heartbreaking and funny. Edie Falco stars as the title character Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant — but very flawed — emergency room nurse in a complicated New York City hospital. A lapsed Catholic with an occasional weakness for Vicodin and Adderall to get her through the days, Jackie keeps the hospital balanced with her own kind of justice. Every day is a high wire act of juggling patients, doctors, fellow nurses and her own indiscretions. The series also stars Eve Best, Peter Facinelli, Merritt Wever, Haaz Sleiman and Paul Schulze.

Edie Falco Could Return To 30 Rock

While she’s committed to Showtime’s newest dark comedy, Nurse Jackie until it’s finished shooting, Edie Falco isn’t ruling out the possibility of returning to 30 Rock once again as a guest.

“I can’t be on [‘30 Rock’] until [‘Nurse Jackie’] is done, but I would do it again in a heartbeat,” Falco said.

Fans loved her previous guest spot on the show, and despite her saying she was terrified when initially approached, she loved working with Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey.

Both shows shoot in NYC, so a hop over to her old guest spot wouldn’t take her very long. Episodes of Nurse Jackie will need to be finished in the coming weeks and months in order to meet their fall release, so we could see Falco back on 30 Rock as soon as this spring! Fingers Crossed!

Falco Given More Room With Nurse Jackie Than Carmella

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

NURSE JACKIE
Set to premiere with Weeds this fall, Nurse Jackie follows Edie Falco, starring as the drug-abusing title character. A dark comedy, Falco has enjoyed having more dialogue with writers this time around, as she didn’t have much input with Carmella, her much-loved role on The Sopranos.

“Every once in a while, even with this show, I’ll say, ‘No, this doesn’t feel right,’ and I’ll think, ‘Well that’s not you — it doesn’t have to feel right for you. Your job is to make it feel right for her, make it appear as if it feels right for her.’”

She’s not just contributing to her dialogue, either. She’s even had some say in the casting of the show!

“I’ve been given more opportunities to contribute to dialogue, and casting, I’ve been a big part of casting the other people. I came in at the very last minute at Sopranos. It had been cast and they’d been looking for Carmella for a long long time and I just kind of was thrown into the mix and was on this boat with all these people that were already on it.”

While the fall seems incredibly far away, I’m betting updates on Nurse Jackie will come fast and often, as is the case with most new Showtime series.
