it’s always hard to come back from losing family. i know i watched an episode of Huff, and i know i had all sorts of great things to say about it. and then i sat down at the computer, and nothing came out. nothing will still come out.

so i’m just going with it. after work tonite i’ll re-watch the episode and blog immediately so i don’t lose any of the words again. as the week progresses and turns into next, i’m hoping i’ll get back into the swing of it all. until then, thanks for your support and continued visits despite the lack of exciting content.

due to an unexpected death in the family, i will not be able to post until next wednesday. i’ll see you then with updates on all the shows i’ll have missed in that time, plus some new show reviews and news!

Tonite on Showtime

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

So, as I work through the house, cleaning it out and finishing up the kitchen, I’ve been away from the blog too much. Things will go back to some semblance of normal this weekend, and I’ll be back with updates on all the shows I’ve been remiss on reviewing, as well as some new Huff reviews and a few actor bios.

For now, however, don’t forget to watch both Penn and Teller tackle immigration and This American Life open up Pandora’s Box tonite, starting at 10e/9c.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers heads to rehab

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

In a move that’s become synonymous with the late 20’s Hollywood crowd, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, star of Showtime’s The Tudors, has entered rehab. People reports he has entered into an alcohol-related rehab program after a “non-stop succession of filming”.

Check out the full article here, and we wish him a full recovery.

So apparently there’s this cool new spot called Second Life. It’s a 3-D virtual world built and run by its residents. And there’s tons of cool L-Word style stuff there. And I have it on good authority that there will be a live chat there tomorrow night with Christine Vachon (legendary film producer of such smashes Boys Don’t Cry and Hedwig and the Angry Inch)!!! Head over there and check it out!

restructuring questions

Friday, March 9th, 2007

okay, so i’ve been considering a restructure of sorts. the beginning of the year has been slow-ish for Showtime, with the L Word being their primary new season. until the end of March, when everything kicks into high gear, and we see three new seasons being brought into the mix. things don’t stop from there, as there are a plethora of new seasons hitting us for the rest of the year.

with this in mind, i’ve been wondering if a few of the things i’ve been doing need to be reorganized (could that have been any more vague?!?!). so i’m putting these questions out there for you all, and hoping i’ll get some comments about what you’d like to see. here are my ideas.

* every saturday/sunday i’d post a “what’s hot for the coming week” type of post, where you’ll get highlights of the coming shows and movies.

* season summaries (possibly divided into two or three posts, at most) instead of episode by episode. as much as i love to get that deep with the shows, i don’t know if i’ll have time for it, and the character arc posts i had talked about doing just don’t do it for me.

* actor bios … this would happen for the actors whose shows are currently on, as well as for the actors who have graced the Showtime channel in the past.

* movie reviews.

* new seasons would obviously still be done episode by episode.

so, the big restructure here would be on the older seasons of shows i’ve been reviewing. which means QAF, Huff, and Weeds would be done much faster. leaving time for some of these other elements, but taking away the fun of episode by episode review.

so now it’s yoru turn. tell me what you think of the restructure i’m contemplating, and if you have any other ideas and suggestions.

and don’t forget your comments here will count towards the contest for Showtime schwag i’m running. you have today’s posts still to get yourself into the drawing which will happen this weekend (winner posted on Monday).

snowed in

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

hey there all. sorry i haven’t posted today, and doubly sorry that this post isn’t about anything showtime. have several things i want to say regarding my favorite station, but wanted to …

wanted to share this.

img_0100.JPG

this is my world right now. navigating it has taken the better part of my morning.

so give me some time, and i’ll be back with a movie review, some QAF lovin’, and the beginnings of my journey with Huff.

updates and news and such

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

It’s sort of sad to me that my week of L Word is done now. I even extended it a day out of sheer love for the show. I didn’t even scratch the surface with bios and favorites, things like that. So I might have to keep putting that stuff up as often as I can.

However, I can no longer neglect all the other amazing things happening at Showtime. They’ve got two new shows starting up soon (The Tudors and This American Life). Both shows look to fill the void the L Word season finale will leave in my heart. In the coming weeks I’ll have great insider info about these two shows, as well as at least one giveaway!

I also have several episodes of Dexter left to talk about, and I’ve got Weeds to discuss. I’m going to start working through all the old Huff episodes so I can be ready for their new season.

And there’s QAF. Which I know is off the air, but I love and want to discuss.

So you see, I have to let the week of Lovely L Word Ladies be done. For now.

update on my status

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

okay, so i’m leaving in like six hours. i’m flying to visit family, and then to go skiing. when i’m at my family’s pad, i’ll have access to the net. when i’m skiing i probably won’t.

don’t panic however! i’m testing out the whole “write it now and let wordpress post it later” theory. if the posts i’ve got in there now show up when they’re supposed to …

we’re golden!

i’ve got two scheduled for when i have access, so if everything goes to hell i can try to fix it. if it works, though, you’ll have some great L Word posts to get you through til next wednesday, when i return in a blaze of glory and discussion of the newest L Word episode.

til then my pets.

new friends visiting for the weekend …

Friday, January 26th, 2007

The weekend is upon us again, and only a few more days before the next episode of the L Word. Will it wow or make me sigh? I am almost afraid to watch it!

What will you all be doing this weekend? There are tons of good movies on showtime, of course, and I will be taking in as many as possible. I will also be doing some updating to this here site, as well as catching up with my new friends Dexter, Weeds, and Huff. That’s right, in the coming weeks you’ll be treated to discussions of all these shows!

Also, just a reminder, The Tudors begins in a few quick months, so it’s best to study up on the era, as well as Jonathen Rys Meyers, as there will be quizzes! (and maybe even prizes!)

Have a great weekend!

i hate computers!

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

i had a whole post up here, amazing in it’s brilliance, and then my computer froze up.

so now you get me making excuses for a bit, until i can recreate it. even though it will never be as brilliant as the first post. isn’t that the way of it?

so look for me to be back here in a few, with brilliance and not a hint of bitterness towards my computer.
