While they didn’t throw near the party this year they have in seasons past to celebrate it’s return, tonight marks the first episode of the third season of The Tudors.

… but where was everyone else?

Pictures have been floating around of Jonathan and a few lovely ladies attending the Tudors Season 3 Launch Party, but this was apparently not the big premiere, as none of the other stars chose to attend. No producers, none of his television wives, not  a single other actor from the show.

What?

At least it’s good to see Meyers out and about after yet another stint in rehab. Hopefully if one of these ladies is his new love, she’ll help keep him on the straight and narrow for some time, so we can all enjoy him in more movies.

From Paris With Love, a film starring both Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Travolta, has had it’s North American Distribution rights picked up by Lionsgate. The film, which is set to release in the Netherlands in November of this year, has been given an American release date of February 19, 2010.

Centering around the story of an intelligence operative (played by Rhys Meyers), the story revolves around his career working for the US Embassy in France. When a high-ranking US agent (played by Travolta) is sent to help stop a terrorist attack, the pair work together and action and drama most likely ensue.

With Meyers out of rehab, he’ll most likely go back to working on this film before he has to arrive on set to film the fourth season of The Tudors.

After spending a mere two weeks in rehab (for the third time - not the second, as I’d previously reported) following a nine-day bender in England, Jonathan Rhys Meyers is apparently back in L. A. and back to work. He’s been holding a few low-key meetings with execs about upcoming projects, and filming for the fourth season of The Tudors is considered to be on-schedule still.

Acknowledging that he definitely needs more than two weeks of help, Meyers is also seeking long-term help for the deeper issues surrounding his alcohol use. A close friend has said, “He recognized that he needed help and hopefully now he is back on the straight and narrow. It is something that he finally accepted within himself that he has to deal with.

“He will continue to get help now and the people around him will work to keep him going on the right track.”

Now that Anne Boleyn is good and dead, Natalie Dormer doesn’t have to wait long to fine more work. Thanks to her well-praised turn on Showtime’s The Tudors, she’s joined up with Fox Networks to tackle the female lead in Masterwork!

Set in a variety of locals across the globe, Dormer plays an MI5 agent (that’s British Secret Service) who teams up with an FBI agent to traverse the world recovering artifacts.

While this all sounds vaguely Alias, I’m betting the show will be a huge hit, as well as segueing Dormer into the greater public’s eye. More news as I get it on the show!

First-time small screen actress Joss Stone had to trade her hippy sensibilities to play Anne of Cleaves, Henry VIII’s fourth wife, in the upcoming third season of The Tudors. While Anne is said to have been Henry’s ugliest wife, Stone had a blast with the role despite her obvious good looks.

In what is sure to be a highlight reel moment of the season, Henry storms out of the bedroom on the night of their marriage, calling Anne a “Flanders mare” and claiming she’s too ugly to consummate the marriage. Obviously the marriage was annulled soon after.

Joss isn’t deterred by the short stint on the show, however. ‘She thinks it’s a stepping stone to other acting roles,’ says the source.

For the second time since fame hit fast and strong, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has checked himself into a rehab clinic to help control his alcohol addiction. This time around he’s in England for treatment, and rumor has it this time around the suggestions came from the producers of The Tudors.

While no one’s confirming, it’s said that the producers of The Tudors pulled him aside during filming of the third season, set to being airing in a few weeks, and warned him about his alcohol intake.

“He is one of the nicest guys in the world, he’s a pleasure to work with. He has his demons, and he’s trying to cope with them as best he can,” the source said.

Here’s hoping Jonny will be well enough to make it to the premiere (although clearly his health is most important), because it just won’t be the same without him.

In an interview with USA Today, Joss Stone got down and dirty regarding her role as Anne, Henry’s fourth wife. And while the show has been sexed up, bosom flying out of corsets and Meyers’ cod-pieces taking over the screen in some scenes, Stone says her portrayal of Anne of Cleves diverts from that.

“She wears frumpy clothes,” says Stone, from her home in Devon on a break from filming in Dublin. “None of the sexy English corsets. I’m a German weirdo. I had to have a bloody German accent and play the harpsichord.”

And while she and Meyers do share one love scene, it’s nothing like his romps with Anne Boleyn. “I just have to lie there. He’s trying to consummate the marriage. She’s a virgin and very afraid and she has no idea what to do. It’s all very uncomfortable and not working. He gets very angry.”

Stone’s three-episode arc will begin about halfway through the third season of The Tudors, which airs this spring.

With rumors that Showtime was going to cancel the Tudors after this second season, I was pretty sad I wouldn’t get my King Henry fix again next year. But Showtime has announced the show will be returning for a third season!

“THE TUDORS is now a fixture for us at SHOWTIME and we’re on our way to completing the entire saga of all six wives of Henry VIII,” says SHOWTIME President of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt. “We are enormously proud of this show, the extraordinary cast, and the production team that recreates the grandeur of the Renaissance year in and year out. There is nothing like this anywhere on American television.”

Shooting begins on June 16 in Ireland, and although Natalie Dormer won’t be part of the third season (her character will be minus one head and buried by that point!), I’m sure Henry will find himself someone to occupy his time with! Lots more sex and intrigue are sure to show up in the third season! I for one can’t wait for all the shots of filming show up!

With assassination plans against Anne in full swing, you’d think someone would tell the King. Instead, he and Anne are too busy trying to make a baby, now that she’s finally having sex with him. Their marriage is clearly eminent, and with it will certainly come more problems than any of them can predict. One of those unpredicted problems? The men in employ to Brandon and Boleyn are fighting over the honor of their men, and the fighting turns ugly when they draw swords. Before any of them knows what’s happened, one of Brandon’s man is killed on the very floor of the church where he sought sanctuary. At that moment, Charles Brandon walks in, but before he repays the death of his man he is stopped by the priest. And of course then Boleyn walks in, and the two exchange super-evil glances. That fight won’t end any time soon!

For all you die-hard Jonny fans out there, your best move would be to Pittsburgh for a few weeks. Reports are coming in that filming for his latest movie “Shelter�? has begun, and while the camera crews are upsetting bus lines and such (welcome to filming), Jonny’s been spotted in his downtime at such swank establishments as Dave & Busters. That’s right, Dave & Busters. A forum post on IMDB talks about seeing him there, his sporting facial hair like he does on The Tudors, and how his pecs are to die for. Too bad he’s not filming where I live!

As stills start to show up from filming (or maybe even a candid of Jonny out and about in Pittsburgh?!), I’ll post them up here. For now, just this older photo from the premiere will have to suffice.
