“The Dark Time” - Weeds Recaps

season-3-ep-12.jpg

With season three winding down, every episode has more and more punch. In this episode alone, Nancy takes on a partner of sorts, the grow house is moved, and the three Amigos (Doug, Dean and Andy) each branch out in their recreational activities!

Mary Louise Parker Relies On Her Nannies

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

mlp1.jpg

There’s been some talk swirling around this picture today. Before I address it, I want to point out just how stinkin’ cute her little daughter Ash is!

mlp2.jpg

Now for the controversy. This pair of pics was snapped recently (supposedly on the same day … notice the clothing) of Mary Louise Parker and her kids, and their nanny. While Parker occupies herself on the phone, her nanny is left to care for both young children.

Here’s the deal, though. You can’t tell from these pictures if they were taken during the same outing, or if she was that inattentive the entire trip. In both pictures you can only see one of her children, leading me to believe there had to have been at least one other person there watching the children, or these pics were snapped at different times during the day.

Either way, to critique someone’s parenting (especially on a day when Britney loses custody … again) is just ludicrous!

ep-10.png

Just as things are starting to look up for Nancy, she runs into money problems, kidlet problems, and love life problems all in the same episode. And she’s not the only one! Doug’s facing possible jail time, Dean’s out of the hospital and in Celia’s life, and Silas is having a hard time learning to grow.

“Release The Hounds” - Weeds recap

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

ep-9.jpg

Just because life seems to be getting back to some semblance of normal for Nancy, it doesn’t mean the shit isn’t still hitting the fan on a daily basis in the Botwin household and Agrestic proper. For starters, Nancy still has her boob in the mammogram machine while talking to Valerie. The pair head off to grab some coffee and while it doesn’t go well at least Nancy begins to realize her behavior isn’t normal and vows to change it. Later that evening, Valerie shows up at Nancy’s house and the pair agree to meet for dinner the next night.

Page Kennedy on My Name Is Earl!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

page-kennedy-1.jpg

Even though U-Turn is dead to Weeds, you can still catch him on tv. Take tonight for example. I wish I had known Page Kennedy was going to take a turn on “My Name Is Earl” before I was watching the show, or I’d have told everyone to tune in. None the less, U-Turn was on the show!

In a role that wasn’t a complete departure from his tremendous job as U-Turn, Kennedy plays the leader of the black gang in Earl’s prison, who is also secretly gay and in love with the leader of the Latin gang! The two were bitter rivals until being locked in solitary together (I know, I know, but it’s what happened) for a full month. The pair fall in love, and all Romeo and Juliet agree to be secret lovers.

The only way they can be together is to keep their gangs fighting, and there’s a great shot of the two rolling around on the ground while mass destruction breaks out around them. A lover’s quarrel has the two breaking up, and Kennedy’s Hector tries to kill himself rather than live without him. Jamal (Kennedy’s character) saves him, and Earl’s so moved by the display he helps them find time once a month to be together.

Hilarious turn on the show, and I hope we get to see more of this secret couple (and especially Page) as the season continues! Until then, I’m excited to see what other bloggers will have to say about the episode!

“The Two Mrs. Scottsons” - Weeds Recap

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

weeds-s3-ep-8.jpg

Now that U-Turn is dead and Peter is dead, you’d think Nancy would be free of most of her troubles. Instead, she goes looking for it by stalking Peter’s son and ex-wife as they try to go about their lives now that he’s dead. The obvious tension between them is palpable. Turns out Peter was a dirty cop long before he met Nancy (a man flying a kite found him in a drain in wisconsin) and his partner got fired for being party to it.

“He Taught Me How To Drive-By” Weeds Review (part two)

weeds-ep-7.jpg

continuing on …

Conrad and Nancy are talking in her car outside the funeral home, and while Nancy’s not so ready to talk to Conrad, he slyly brings up the kiss. Damn, I want them to end up together so bad! He tells her about Marvin getting shot in the ass, and how it might not have been the Mexicans after all, but someone trying to make it look like it was in order to start a huge gang war. That way everyone up their butts would be dead, and they’d be free. My money’s on Heylia, as she’s the only one in Agrestic with the ability to pull some shit like that off.

Poor Shane isn’t getting out of summer school no matter what he tries, partly because Nancy doesn’t want him staying home playing with her video games. He warns her the pedagogy could take root in his brain, turning him into a right-wing narc, and thus solidifying my belief that he’s the best character in the show. And then there’s Tara, all slutty in her off-shoulder shirt sitting at the kitchen counter/breakfast bar all early in the morning. Because she slept over. I love that Nancy immediately brings up Megan and Quinn, reminding him she doesn’t want to go through “that” again. Tara lets Nancy know she has nothing to worry about, as she’s abstaining until marriage, and Silas begrudgingly agrees (you know he thinks he’ll be able to wear her down in a few weeks’ time, the slut!)

Shane starts an evolution vs. creationism debate with Tara, and it’s super awesome!

Andy is at his first catering job, which is strangely for a porn shoot in one of Majestic’s non-purchased houses. Interesting that Sullivan is running a faith-based community and renting the empty houses out for porn shoots. I wonder how long before that becomes public knowledge? Ps, who says “I took you in the ass!” to anyone they don’t know really well, but Andy to the porn guy the strap-on Yael used was modeled after.

Nancy heads over to her employer’s office, and Sullivan’s asking her to legalize his construction crew (illegally, of course, using some payoff money) so that Majestic doesn’t get shut down the way another of his communities has. Celia walks in with lunch for Sullivan, and suggests Nancy gathers all the signatures for the referendum.

Doug and Dean show up to play Andy’s dishwashers. Or so they can watch the porn in progress. Involving two women and a large black man wearing a pirate hat. He’s Captain Jack. Just as one of the women starts hitting on Dean, he’s thrown out for staring at her boobs.

Shane gets into a fight on the playground because he won’t convert to Christianity, and then is saved by this cutie girl he immediately forms a crush on. Of course Shane’s going to fake convert just so he can get in good with the hottie chick, despite his hatred for all things religious. Too bad he’s going to have a fight on his hands for Amelia, as Isabelle forms a crush on her, too.

Nancy and Marvin head off to the meeting with the Mexican gang, and she suggests he not mention them shooting him. When they threaten to shoot Marvin over their “chiva” (which I’m assuming is the heroin Nancy’s got in her house), she figures out it might be the way for her to get herself (and Conrad) out of the horrid situation they’re in. Nice move on her part, as Marvin either wipes her debt clean or he dies because he’s unwilling to let her go free. So she’s finally free of Marvin and U-Turn, but she can no longer deal in the city anywhere. That’s the price of their lives and freedom.

Shane gets blown off for his lunch date with Amelia because Isabelle tells her she thinks she’s gay. Poor Shane didn’t see that coming, and poor Isabelle thinks she can convert Amelia to her team. Hah.

Nancy’s of getting all the illegal aliens their new ids, and also getting them to sign their new names (off their fake ids) on the referendum petition. Which is where she sent the gang members to pick up their heroin. In the pouring rain she heads back to her boss’s office and gets half naked to celebrate her freedom from the gang members. How will this affect Sullivan’s relationship with Celia? Oh, and just as you think it couldn’t get any worse, the rain drags up her dead DEA ex-husband’s body.

Stay tuned next week to see what happens!

“He Taught Me How To Drive-By” Weeds Review (part one)

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

weeds-ep-7.jpg

The new episode opens at U-Turns funeral, and he’s being buried in his hot tub, but only because the boat didn’t fit in the funeral home. Even Conrad and Heylia are there!

Clinique is pregnant, and it turns out it Sanjay’s baby, even though she doesn’t remember the name. All she remembers is that it was an Indian kid she mercy-f*%$d for U-Turn. Nancy meets “Two Strikes” and they reminisce the good things about U-Turn, like Nancy being taught how to drive by.
