What to Tivo

this week on Showtime

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Here’s some great shows and movies not to miss this week on Showtime!

On Sunday, you’ll find repeats of the latest episodes of both Penn and Teller and This American Life, so if you missed those, definitely tune in. You’ll also get to watch a first-season episode of Dexter. As the season progresses I find myself more and more exicted for season two! Finally, the evening will culminate with a new episode of The Tudors, and King Henry’s relationship with Ann Boleyn heating up.

On Monday, The Pink Panther airs at 7:25 EST, followed by Weeds: The Lude Awakening, so those of you (like me) who desperately need to catch up on some Weeds action can do so!

Tuesday brings re-showings of The Tudors, This American Life and Penn and Teller. If you’ve already seen these three, it’s a good time to flip to some of Showtime’s “other stations” like ShoToo and ShowCase, where you’ll find great movies like Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Winter Solstice.

Wednesday brings Beauty Shop to the Showtime network, as well as Be Cool on ShoToo.

Thursday This American Life takes a break (or are the episodes already done?!?!?) while we get treated to back-to-back showings of a new episode of Penn and Teller. This week, the boys tackle Handicap Parking. Should be interesting.

Friday we find re-showings of this week’s shows, but on ShoToo you can watch Strangers With Candy. Having watched it a few weeks ago, I can tell you if you haven’t ever seen the tv show, you probably won’t get it. Look for my review coming soon!

Saturday is a great comedy special The Original Latin Divas of Comedy, followed by a look at Showtime Championship Boxing.

Have a great week, and don’t forget to set your tivos!

starting in April

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Okay, so starting in April, the Showtime line-up kicks into high gear. Which means that beginning this Sunday, this blog will kick things into high gear, and so should your TiVo’s.

First up, we’ve got the series premiere of The Tudors happening Sunday at 10e/9c. With all the press it’s getting, it’s definitely worth it. **And you can check out the first couple episodes online even!

But don’t wait until the moment before it starts to turn on the t.v. because the hour before it will be devoted to the first season of Dexter! That’s right, they’re re-showing the whole thing, which means the new season can’t be far off!

And then on Mondays Showtime is re-showing both seasons of Weeds at 9e/8c! Which gives me a great chance to get caught up before their third season starts.

With so many great shows on this network, how can you watch anything else?!

Get Rich or Die Tryin’

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

tonite on Showtime, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”. from Showtime’s website:

“Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson stars in this gritty drama loosely based on his own life as Marcus, a tough kid who grew up orphaned in a New York neighborhood and turned to drug-dealing as a way of survival. When a brush with death convinces him to pursue his passion for rap music, however, Marcus’s former associates object violently to his new plans. Bill Duke and Joy Bryant costar in this inspiring film from director Jim Sheridan (”In the Name of the Father,” “My Left Foot”).”

what to tivo next week

Friday, January 12th, 2007

The weekend is upon us, which means it’s time to take a break from the t.v. to go out to eat and see a movie! Or, in my case, clean the house and get ready for kitchen demolition!

With that in mind, here is a list of some great stuff on Showtime to tivo next week!

The L Word - on every Sunday at 10e/9c … this should be a no-brainer!

Friday night: Beauty Shop is on “ShoToo” and Huff is on Showcase

Saturday: Mad Hot Ballroom is on ShoToo, and Four Brothers (one of my favorites!!!) is on Showtime

Sunday: as I said, the L Word is on!!! Take all day to catch up with your favorite episodes, watch the first episode of this new season again, and then sit back and enjoy the show!
