Gossip Surrounding Jonathan Rhys Meyers Turns Ugly

ETA: As I’ve stated already in this post, I DO NOT believe this rumor is true. I am simply making others aware that such a thing is being said. I did not link to anything that’s stating the rumor because unless it becomes substantiated evidence, I will not give people the impression I think it deserves further pause.

HOWEVER.  It is something that is being passed around the internet, and as someone who updates on all things surrounding Showtime, I felt it was my job to put it up here.

So, the newest news to hit the internet surrounding Jonathan Rhys Meyers isn’t near as good as the premiere of The Tudors. It would seem Jonny boy has been having some inappropriate conversations with former co-star Freddie Highmore. The link I’ve found is on a personal blog, and I can’t find the story in People, so I’m not sure how true this is.

Apparently, Freddie Highmore’s parents have cut off all communications between Freddie and Jonny after they found some chat messages the two had shared. What those messages said, no one knows. But it was enough to refuse to allow their son to communicate with the star any further. The pair had grown close during filming, with Jonny gifting Freddie his first guitar.

I’m choosing not to believe this story until I can find the information on People or some other site like it. Even then I might not believe it. For all the things JRM has been and done, I can’t imagine him being inappropriate with a child in ANY WAY.

It’s not true. Check the “sources” cited and they all turn up blank. Do not pass on this rubbish.

  2. Jenn Says:

Whoever writes this blog is truely an idiot. Do you ever check sources??? This story is NOT TRUE and you should be ashamed for spreading this garbage. The *personal blog* you got this lie from is NOTORIOUS for making up insane stories about Freddie Highmore (including but not limited to the lie that he got Sarah Bolger pregnant and she had an abortion.) NONE of the sources sited by this cretin are legitimate. It’s all LIES, and so far YOU are the only other blog to be STUPID enough to repeat this crap. Happy? Proud? Ick. When that blog gets sued, just hope they don’t look at you too.

  3. Appleluv Says:

Dude, why didn’t you give the source of your infomation? This doesn’t come from People or any other reputable site. It comes from a blogger who has since deleted their entire blog. It’s false, and I agree with the above person who says, shame on you for repeating it.

  4. noir Says:

Jesus, calm down people. She didn’t say it was true. She only said it’s been stated elsewhere. In fact if you bothered to read the entire post you’d know that she disbelieves it without further evidence. It does seem like simply an ugly rumor. JRM seems like a perfectly nice man and this is the first really awful thing I’ve ever read attached to him. In any case shame on you for flying off the handle and accusing people of rumor mongering!

  5. teri Says:

Robyn Charles, please delete this obviously fake item. I’m not sure what made you post something that could ruin an actor’s career if spread when there was absolutely no actual source for the story. You even said you checked People and found no story. So why did you post it?? It was incrediably bad judgement on your part. Even the sleaziest tabloid blogs didn’t touch this one, but you did. Delete it. Please.

  6. Just saying Says:

From what I hear, the blogger that invented the story (and many other slanderous stories over the past few months) is being sued. That’s probably why they deleted their blog. Ms Charles, I really don’t think it’s a good idea to help spread the slander, do you?

  7. anonymous Says:

If you choose not to delete the post, that’s your choice. But it’s certainly not “news”. It doesn’t have anything to do with Showtime.

I think it’s best for fans of JRM, Freddie Highmore, the Tudors, etc. to not get too emotional but to reiterate that this is a lie by a nutcase. Period. There is no story.

  8. Just saying Says:

“It is something that is being passed around the internet, and as someone who updates on all things surrounding Showtime, I felt it was my job to put it up here.”

But that’s not really true, Ms Charles. This blatant lie is NOT being passed around the internet. In fact, YOU are the only one who has repeated the original lie. Just YOU. And since the original blog that made up the story has been deleted, you are not whe ONLY person reporting this slander. Therefore, if it spreads beyond this, you have only YOURSELF to blame, since you are the ONLY source of the lie right now. Something to think about.

  9. noir Says:

Maybe she would actually take this advice to heart if everyone wasn’t using such an accusatory tone. I agree that posting this here gives it more legitimacy than it deserves. I agree that you should consider taking it down since it’s only vaguely related to the Tudors and could hurt the reputation of this blog, not to mention Jonathan.

  10. Trey Says:

OK here’s the deal. The story posted on that blog was proven false (just like so many other stories they wrote in the past few months), the owner is being sued, and they had to delete their blog. That’s all a fact.

Another fact is that no other blog chose to run the slanderous story, except “Watching Showtime”—a blog that, ironically, had ties to the very show JRM is connected with, and the very show that may suffer as a consequence of the proliferation of this damaging and untrue story—not to mention what it could do to JRM’s reputation.

If you continue to leave this lie on your blog (with our without the qualifiers), you’re just as guilty as the original slanderer.

Please stop being stubborn and remove it. No good can come from repeating harmful vicious lies. Don’t be a part of it.

  11. Paul Says:

I say keep the story up. You already ran it, you already said it wasn’t true. Deleting it now wouldn’t change anything. The title of the post is “gossip turns ugly” not “OMG! This is 100% true”. You reported on something that turned out to be false and you shouldn’t be crucified for it. It’s a blog, not Newsweek.

In fact, I’d only keep it up to piss off all the jerks that come on here and leave nasty comments because they care way too much about a celebrity that cares nothing about them and their meaningless lives.

  12. Ha Says:

Paul, she didn’t say it wasn’t true. She said she doesn’t BELIEVE it’s true. That’s a huge difference. She’s giving this lie credence by posting it here, and it has nothing to do with Showtime. And Paul, she’s not supposed to be “pissing off” Showtime viewers. That appears to be your job.
