L Word recap - season one, ep. 9-13
these last five episodes house some intense drama for these ladies. summing it up episode by episode would begin to look like a gian list, so i’ll sum it all up for you by character(s).
Bette and Tina join group counseling for parents, where Tina weathers the incredible storm of miscarriage after finding out they were having a boy. Bette, whether due to grief or fear, begins cheating on Tina with Candace, the carpenter working on the show at the gallery. The show’s opening goes off amazing, depsite intense protest from right-wing anti-porn groups, although it is at this opening that Tina discovers Bette’s affair.
Shane begins a relationship with the wife of a new business contact, and her dreams of owning her own salon are dashed, along with her love for Sherri Jaffey, as she opens herself up for the first time only to be discarded for the money Sherri’s husband has.
Jenny must confront her fears of loneliness as Tim shuns her and Marina goes back to her absentee girlfriend. She ends up living in the “tool shed” office Tim had once lovingly created for her, but by the end of the season it looks as though things may be turning around for her. she begins to date both men and women, attempting to figure out her sexuality, along with gaining some new friendships.
Dana comes out to her parents and finds love at the Dina Shore HRC weekend. Her love interest, Tonya, seems a little creepy and a lot fake, and by the end of the season they are engaged.
which is where Alice steps in. as Dana experiences life as an out lesbian for the first time, Alice ends her relationship with her lesbian boyfriend, and begins to confront the feelings she has for Dana. hot kiss alert!
Kit gets into a relationship of sorts with a drag king named Ivan, after appearing in Slim Daddy’s video (played by Snoop Dog). her character arc seems to be secondary, but i love it!
