L Word recap

by Robyn Charles

Want to apologize for the lack of content here. I’ve been pukey-sick the last few days, and that’s not very condusive to internet posting. Make-up posts on the way soon, but for now, a few words on the latest installment of my favorite show, the L Word!

Once again my low expectations for this season are being surpassed. Apparently they just had to get over the first episode slump. Or I was judging too harshly. No matter, because I am consistently amazed at the quality of the episodes now. I love that Bette is moving forward with her life, and doing so with hotties. I love the Max had the courage to come out to someone, and despite it getting thrown back at him, he was not “sold out” to the girl’s father (and his boss). I love watching Shane learn to take care of herself and those around her, becoming more and more open with each episode.

There are, of course, a few things I don’t love. But for once, it’s not so much about the writers and directors as it is about the characters lives and my involvment in them. I hate, for example, how Angus is responding to the events in his life. I hate that Tina has become so bitchy and self-righteous. I hate that Alice is dealing with so much in Phyllis, and I hate that Jenny so blatantly stole from her friends lives for her “fiction” piece.

All in all, a good episode, and i’m fired up for the next one already!

Side note … Does anyone know if there’ll be any significance to Papi’s friend Tasha? We in my circle think she’s part of the WNBA, and so was upset because maybe she wasn’t totally Out yet. Any helpful hints would be loved!

I do know that Papi’s friend Tanya is going to be significant but I won’t tell you exactly how, in case you don’t want to be spoiled. I will say that I hope this won’t be another case of Ilene Chaiken hitting us over the head with an “important issue!!!!!”

yeah, don’t tell me what it is! although i’m definitely going to do some searching today and try to get down to the bottom of it!

  3. Lori Says:

And that should have been Tasha, not Tanya. I haven’t had enough caffeine yet. :-)

I agree with all your hatin’ but the thing I still hate most is the theme song. That ain’t the way I live and love Ilene Chaiken.

Instead of choosing to focus in the liability column, I chose to focus in the asset column
