“Lesson Number One”

okay, so first off i’m super sorry it’s taken me until tuesday to get a review up for this latest episode of this amazing show. i was visiting family, and they don’t have Showtime (shock!) … but i’m home now, and i just finished watching the L Word’s newest episode. I have a few things to say, most of which are good. that said, i’ll get the negative stuff out of the way first.
i hate hate hate hate hate jennifer schecter. i never thought i’d say that. for the last three seasons, jenny was a character i adored. craziness aside, i understood where this character was coming from. i cheered her on as she boldly came out of the closet, and i cried with her as she lamented the terrible things that happened to her in childhood. i stood by her as she graciously watched carmen and shane fall in love, and i gave her mad respect as she challenged boundaries and prejudices by dating a transgender individual.
and now. now she is hurting her friends and people she claims to care about. she is turning into a selfish bitch and i hate to watch it happen. i am hoping (although i hate to admit it) there will be some moment before the season is up where she will be knocked down a peg or two.
ugh. meanness out of the way.
in all other aspects, i loved this episode. watching shane come out of her bricked in world and stand up for her brother was amazing. seeing alice grow and challenge herself, opening up to tasha in that way, and watching tasha grow into the situation was amazing. papi is a phenomenal character as well. wise words to the girls on the way they’ve been treating tina. phyllis learning for the first time what a broken heart is was awesome to watch.
and helena. ah, helena is back to her old self for a brief moment and i loved it.
well done ladies, well done. you have made a believer out of me once again. i cannot wait for next week’s episode.
