let’s hear it for the boy
as you all know, i’ve been watching the first season of Dexter after it’s already been off the air and into on-demand repeats. this affords me the opportunity to do two things at once, to rewind the show at will, and to post about many many episodes in a row. with every new episode i think i’ve found my favorite, and i’m in that spot once again with this fourth installment.
so many new things happen in the fourth episode it’s hard to keep track. one of my favorite moments, however, was when dexter and rita take their romance to the next level on halloween. so sure that if he and rita get too close he’ll have to “act out”, dexter has avoided an intimate relationship. rita takes matters into her own, damaged hands and dexter is pleasantly suprised at the result! will this be a new turn for him, one towards feelings and emotion?
it would appear so, as by the end of the episode he’s decided he is not the monster he always thought he was. unable to kill someone left for him to do just that (by the ice truck killer no less), dexter decides he is some sort of hybrid between the invisible man his father had taught him to be, faking his emotions and living his life as a lie, and the monster he always thought was hiding beneath the surface.
which dexter will win out in the end? i’m hoping a nice hybrid of the two. can’t wait for the next episode!
