“Lexington and Concord”

first, i have to apologize for being so late today with writing, especially where the L Word is concerned. i have been lying on the couch feeling pukey all day, and couldn’t make it to the computer until now. but boy do i have a ton to say about last night’s episode!

i may be the only person in america who feels this way, but i was actually a little excited to see tina being so open with bette, and i was kind of hoping they would begin to rekindle something. despite their problems and infidelities, i thought they had the potential to make a great couple. simply because we were brought into their lives at a time when they were having difficulties and losing interest in fighting through it all, i believe in them.

i was also super stoked to see alice and tasha finally hook up. i think it’s good that the writers aren’t using tasha as another “platform issue” and yet are still able to let her talk about the soldier’s side of things. i was admittedly worried that she would become a marking stone for all lesbian soldiers, but that issue has barely been addressed. and when it was talked about, it was more of an assumed reality than an issue that bore discussion. well done there! it’ll be interesting to see how tasha reacts to leonard coming over to alice’s in the next expisode!

i think that i’m most upset at shay and shane’s father showing back up, and by the looks of next episodes teaser, it doesn’t end well. every time shane opens herself up to love, something explodes, and she is still to scared to fight through that. i’m hoping this time she will be, that she will fight for shay. but i have a fear the episode will end with shay leaving with his father, leaving shane crying in the yard like we saw her doing. i wish i could shake the writers when it comes to this moment in shane’s character arc, tell them she’s had enough and deserves to have something in her life work well for her.

in all, a good episode (and only one “I hate jenny” screaming moment). i can’t wait until next week, when more drama will unfold and more secrets will be revealed.

  1. Lessa Says:

TiBette - I still hold out hopes for them too, you’re not alone. Though Marlee Matlin is hot hot HOT. I love seeing her as Bette’s love interest, so maybe TiBette can just.. wait a little while longer?

Tasha/Alice - SO glad to see them together! And Alice is forever cute, with her constant need to continue the conversations. I *heart* Alice!

Shane - I adore her. Have since the beginning (and not just because she totally reminds me of my best friend whom I also adore) and seeing that little clip of her crying in the driveway? UGH! Heart Stabbity moments galore! I hope she fights for Shay and they let her keep him! It’s so *good* to see her connecting and opening up and realizing she’s not just the neighborhood fuckup!

    Jenny - UGH! Hate. Her.
