“Liquid Heat” - L Word Recap

With Tasha out of the military and Jenny still hurt by Niki’s public makeout session with her costar, there’s bound to be tons of drama this episode. And within minutes we can see the beginnings of just such a dramatic episode, with the heat in LA so bad there’s rolling blackouts all over the city. While trying to film a Jesse/Todd sex scene for Lez Girls, it becomes apparent that Greg has not only and Elmo tattoo on his ass, but he’s also had a little more of Niki than he should have! When Jenny figures out Niki and Greg had sex after the premiere of her new movie, she gets so upset she fires Greg.

Phyllis is still rocking the double standard, trying to get back together with Joyce. Joyce has just broken Phyllis’ soon-to-be ex-husband of his resilliancy, and she should have divorce documents as early as the next day. Phyllis wants Joyce to hang out with Molly now, too, so she can see the high-powered lesbian lawyer and hopefully be inspired to return to law school. And then she tries to get back together with Joyce. And good job for Joyce for turning her down!!! Phyllis needs to take that huge chip off her shoulder and shove it up her ass!

While trying to re-stock The Planet with ice to keep them running, Kit, Alice and Tasha are talking about a sit-down meeting the She Bar ladies are trying to hold. It sounds all mafia, and you can bet it’s going to be amazing! Alice says she’s going to go, Tasha agrees to go with her, and the two convince Kit that she needs to go at least long enough to see what they have to say.

With Jenny finally consoled enough to go apologize to Greg, we can move on to the Bette/Tina drama. With Jodi in her pool, Bette’s on the phone with Tina talking about their coming therapy session. They talk about Angie, about the mafioso-inspired meeting, and all the while Bette’s wandering around in her bra. After they get off the phone, Tina shuts down shooting for the day and then tries to ask out the DP, Sam. But Sam turns her down, pointing out the fact that she knows Bette and Tina still have stuff between them, even if she’s the only one to notice it. At that, Tina starts venting a bit about it to Sam, who looks so freakin’ uncomfortable hearing all this it’s hilarious! And Jodi finally starts to figure out there’s something wrong when she tries to get on Bette, who turns her down. But Bette pussy’s out, telling her she’s stressed about work instead of being honest.

Back on set, Jenny’s still there, even though Niki has possibly left for the day. She’s sitting on the stairs of her trailer and sobbing while writing a love letter, which she gives to Adele, asking her to give it to Niki and to tell her to meet Jenny on set later in the evening. Who wants to bet Adele won’t do either?!? While Adele’s reading the letter, Jenny and Shane are talking about their love life issues, and Shane admits to crushing on Molly!

The pair then head off to the mafia meeting, where they’re frisked before having to offer up their invites to prove who they are. Dawn’s passing out fans and Cuban cigars. After everyone shows up, Dawn and Cindi walk in and start throwing lies down. And when people start trying to set Dawn straight (for example, Shane telling her it was Cindi who seduced Shane), Dawn tells Cindi to shut up. It’s pretty clear Cindi doesn’t want to be with Dawn anymore, but can’t find her way out. When Kit threatens to kick Dawn’s ass, they all have to stand up and settle down, while Shane says you can’t believe Dawn. Bette finally steps up and handles the negotiations, which include dividing up which nights they can “have”. And then Dawn wants restitution, in the form of a shout-out on Alice’s show (they settle for the podcast), and a part for Cindi in Jenny’s movie. Unfortunately they get nothing but Denbo’s word that she’ll keep the deal, which isn’t a good thing!

Max is back!!! Alice is filming a new podcast, but this time Shane’s recording it as Max is Alice’s guest. Alice apologizes for all the things she said to Max, but she doesn’t seem to really mean it so much. While this is going on, Shane’s doing a TERRIBLE job of filming, floating the camera all over the place and messing with the settings. It gets even worse when Molly shows up with her ex-boyfriend, who has apparently flown into town. It’s hilarious to see how flustered Shane gets … that’s something she didn’t even do around Carmen! While that’s going on, Bette’s getting busted out by Kit for bringing Tina a coffee to their therapist appointment. I’m glad people are finally figuring out there’s something going on!

On their way to their therapy appointment, the power goes out again and they’re trapped in the elevator. Bette immediately starts freaking out, and Tina’s there to console her. While they’re stuck in the elevator, Max’s boy toy shows up after a long absence. He admits he’s been keeping his distance because of Max’s trans status, but then asks him on a date. Score! Tasha and Alice, meanwhile, are having an adorable moment where Tasha’s experiencing 6pm in their apartment for the first time (she’s usually stuck in traffic coming back from the base at that time).

Niki finally gets Jenny’s letter, and shows up at Jenny’s house to apologize. But instead of finding Jenny, she finds Adele, but it’s dark and she doesn’t know it until they’re kissing and then the lights come on. I can only imagine how far that would have gone had the lights stayed off!

And just when you think it can’t get any sluttier than the heatwave that’s happening, we get the greatest sex montage ever. Bette and Tina, fresh from their solving their own problems, do it in the elevator. Max gets laid FINALLY, as he and Tom consumate their growing relationship. Jenny and Niki make up, fucking on the set bed, while Shane and Molly consumate their dirty dirty crush! Hot.

Too bad the whole thing is ruined when Phyllis walks in on Molly and Shane, just starting their second round of teaching Molly the ins and outs of the female body. Phyllis and Molly get into a huge fight in which they’re both super condescending towards Shane (and basically anyone without an Ivy League education). And the power comes back on in the elevator, and while Bette and Tina are getting all put back together Bette says she doesn’t want to tell Jodi about them until after the Pink Ride. And we have to wait until next week to see how those two situations turn out! Damn!
