“Matthew 5:6″ - Brotherhood season one recaps

A raid on Rose’s house has the whole family at each other’s throats as the attention threatens to undo everything they’ve all been working towards. In the end they all seem to work it out, although their peace is a surface bandaid, with the wounds below begging to be let out, and I can’t wait for the blowout that happens when they do!

Michael’s still having issues with all the change in his absence, and expresses his concerns to Freddie while the lackeys are pulling molars out of a dead body. The next day, while following around Mo (with the head bandage), Deco and his partner end up at a hotel, where Mo’s gone up to visit a Mr. John Smith. A cop-groupie girl works the front desk gave them the room key, and they bust in, only to find Mo is working with the secret service?!

Tommy sets up a breakfast meeting with the Speaker and his potential investors, letting them tell him themselves they need the tax credit bill to make it through the legislature in order to purchase the building. Eileen’s still smoking pot in the bathroom, and hiding her new shoe purchase. During a family Sunday brunch the feds show up to search Rose’s house with a search warrant. Someone tipped them off to Michael’s counterfeit money production, and they’re looking for evidence. Deco (who was there) tells Eileen he couldn’t keep them until after Tommy’d left, because they think that embarrassing him will put pressure on Michael. Which we all know won’t happen.

Jimmy informs Tommy that for the judge to have signed the warrant, a witness would have had to have given a deposition. Could that be what Mo was doing with the secret service that day? Turns out it was the feds that paid for his ear surgery in exchange for info on Michael. He went to them to volunteer the info, and I’m betting he knew there’d be no evidence, and simply wanted a new ear, because the search turned up dry. They hit the store Michael owns as well, and find nothing there either. Freddie shows up at the store and takes away both the counterfeit money business and bookie business.

Monday morning Tommy’s world just gets worse. He’s got the press after him, and the Speaker tells him the bill he wanted for the tax credits won’t go through because of all the recent bad press. He says the only way he can make it go through is if he’s guaranteed Tommy’s vote on all matters, regardless of his obligations to the Hill and his constituents, which Tommy won’t give him. By Tuesday he can’t even go to the local diner for a to-go lunch without getting teased mercilessly by people.

When the feds show back up to their hotel rooms, they’re met with an unpleasant surprise. It seems there’s a big golf convention in town and their rooms had already been booked out for that time period some months in advance! Michael loses his tail by popping the tire on the feds’ van, and then heads out in search of Mo, who he finds at a topless joint, getting a blow job in his car. He rips of Mo’s new ear and then heads off, but not before Deco can get there and try to diffuse the situation (unsuccessfully).

Still plotting against Mo, Michael gets another one of the guys on Freddie’s crew (Billy) drunk and they head over to the house across from Freddie’s hideout. They fill the place up with gasoline, and then just before lighting it on fire, Michael kills Billy. Billy, by the way, has Mo’s fake ear, which means the cops will think he did it. Thus, Michael stops yet another part of the Hill from becoming unrecognizable to him while getting Mo back for the search on his mother’s house.
