Mrs. Bowtin’s Neighborhood recap

In this explosive fifth episode, Silas gets the majority of the focus, as his life is the one currently spiraling most out of control. After telling Nancy about the baby he and Megan are both SO excited to have (at least, he thinks they’re both excited to have), Nancy makes Megan take test after test “just to be sure”. Poor Megan looks less and less sure she even wants to be alive with every positive test result. Heading off to tell her parents, she makes Silas stay out of it, and then drops off the planet for several days. Silas, being young and in love, keeps sending her e-mails with one word in each one … A baby name he’s thought of. Way to creep her out even more!
While all this drama transpires, Celia is preparing for her big debate against Doug the only way she knows how: attempting to thwart her daughter’s Huskaroo dreams by busting in on her audition. Isabelle still gets the part, much to Celia’s horror, and becomes the newest face of Huskaroos clothing.
Just as Nancy’s business seems to be moving in the right direction, she runs into the Armenians (episode four) and is on the brink of losing everything. Enter Peter, her secret husband, who busts up the entire Armenian drug ring while leaving her house untouched. In the moment when you first figure out Peter is completely nutso, he calls Nancy to share the good news as he’s about to be interviewed on television about the bust. Smooth Peter, super smooth. He considers the bust a wedding present for Nancy, freeing her up to continue her growing business.
The drama comes to a close as Silas heads to Megan’s house to see her after days of no contact, where he is greeted with horrible news: Megan has had an abortion. While her father attacks Silas and then Nancy, he makes it sound like it was forced on Megan, as Silas has all but ruined her life and they won’t let anything stand in the way of her Ivy League education. But the look on Megan’s face as the Bowtin’s drive away? It pretty much seals that she wanted it just as much as her parents did.
