“One Too Many Mornings 3:4-8″ - Brotherhood Season Two Recaps

The Caffey Family is back for more drama, underhanded dealings and basic family life the Irish way. With the cat out of the bag for Eileen, she’s feeling like she can finally move on while Tommy’s just getting used to the new picture he has of his wife. Michael’s got some lasting damage from the beat-down he received and once again The Hill is moving on without him. Add to that all the regular stresses of Caffey life and this episode makes me feel like they were never gone! For the full recap, keep reading.

Tommy’s doing some demolition, with the knowledge of his wife cheating on him fresh in his mind. Michael, meanwhile, isn’t dead, but is in rehab for his injuries. He’s having some serious trouble with spatial recognition, parts of his brain having been bashed in by Deco. At least he’s got Cathy with him now (she must’ve left her husband). Michael’s also lost some memories, which may or may not be gone forever. Who knows really what problems Michael is having because he won’t admit anything but “I’m fine”.

After kissing the kids and sending them off to school Tommy confronts Eileen about her confessions. Sort of. It seems more like he doesn’t want to deal with it. Deco’s passed out in his car with a bottle and some pills next to him, only to be woken up by Cassie banging on the window and flipping him off. She’s obviously still pissed! Michael’s trying to find things in the kitchen when Rose comes in to see him struggling, and isn’t the most helpful or gentle about his forgetting. Looks like he’s been spending most of his time at Cath’s house and Rose isn’t so happy about it. Deco and Ralph show up to work, Deco still smelling like liquor, and everyone but Deco are called into the conference room to discuss the organized crime case.

Tommy is at a recorded deposition and isn’t being the most cooperative. He’s not lying about anything, but he’s also very definitely not giving them the info they want. Afterwards he meets Judd at a funeral to discuss the deposition, and it sounds like Judd thinks all will be okay. He wants Tommy to talk to Carvato, one of the other Democrats on the state senate. Sounds like the guy isn’t backing who Judd wants him to back, and wants Tommy to convince him to change his vote. After talking to Judd he talks to Peg to see how coherent Judd is feeling, and it sounds like while today is one of his decent days, he’s going downhill fast. She says if Tommy treats him like he isn’t any different everyone will follow suit.

When Michael heads into the bar to get his cut, he finds out there’s a new kid delivering the money to Freddie now. Looks like Freddie’s been co-opting all of Michael’s businesses during his recovery. He heads off to visit with Freddie, who is at lunch with Moe and another one of his soldiers bitching about everyone at the restaurant. He finds out his liquor store is closed, and Freddie’s keeping up a lie that the Russians were the ones who messed up Michael. Freddie tells him to keep up with his rehab, and when he’s totally well he can come back and Freddie will give him back all his other work.

Michael runs into Deco, who wants to take him on a drive. Deco’s freaked out because he thinks Michael knows about what happened. Michael really wants Deco to look into what happened to him because he thinks Freddie ordered the hit and doesn’t believe the story about the Russians. Deco tries to turn him down, but even on the injured list Michael’s a very convincing man and gets him to make a few calls for him.

Back at home Eileen is folding all Tommy’s boxers and just sort of loses it, start to throw them around. Once they’re all over the floor she lights up a joint and sits on the floor of her house smoking a joint. Just then her phone rings, and it’s the school. Turns out Lila stabbed one of her classmates with a pencil! The school thinks it’s a version of ADHD, and are recommending she go to the doctor to get put on meds. Eileen tells her she’s got to get up in front of the class and apologize, and Lila begs her not to tell Tommy but Eileen says she has to. Leaving the school she runs into Jordana (Carl’s fiance) and starts talking to her about Lila. Turns out the principal recommends medication to everyone and suggests Eileen not put her on meds so fast. The two share a smoke, and Jordana tells her she found a note in Carl’s stuff that proves he was seeing someone else.

Deco has dinner at the house with Tommy and Eileen, and although it sounds like they’re talking about him and Cassie, really they’re talking about Tom and Eileen as well. After dinner Tom asks Deco how the department took the deposition he gave. Deco tells him he doesn’t know anything, that he’s been cut out of Caffey business at the station and that Tom and Michael are like the same person, and then leaves.

Michael’s at Cathy’s house and he’s trying to do one of the kid’s puzzles. He tells her he wants to head out and get some food, and she tells him her ex stopped by drunk one night and was banging on the door. In bed that night Cathy’s out cold and Michael gets up to have a glass of water. While filling it up at the fridge he loses for about a minute before coming to super scared.

Deco’s in the bar getting drunk and buying Vicotin off some of Freddie Cork’s kids. Freddie tells him to straighten up or he’ll tell the cops what Deco did to Michael. He wants him back on the force in a good way so he can use him to his advantage. Before you know it Deco’s waking up in a hotel room on the floor to Michael calling, asking what Deco knows about who beat him senseless.

Cassie’s leaving work for the day and runs into Moe sitting on her car, telling her she’s got to go back to him. Cassie’s not listening, however, and walks away mad. She waits for Deco at the hot dog stand and tells him off for sending Moe to plead his case, although Deco didn’t send him. When Moe tries to tell him off, Deco reminds him they’ve got stuff on each other, and then Moe tells him he was only trying to help out because Deco’s running himself into a wall at 60mph.

Tommy’s still trying to convince his friend to stop his support of Valente, but the guy won’t do it. Instead he sends the out-of-towner contract guy to him to work out a deal. I’m assuming he’s hoping the guy would see the favor and return it.

Freddie shows up to give Michael the rest of the money he was owed from the bar, and Michael asks again if he can go back to work. Freddie once again turns him down, pissing him off yet again. Rose is just leaving for work and you can tell there’s something wrong there as well.

Tommy and Eileen go to see the school counselor about Lila’s issue at school, and she can see there’s something deeper happening in the family. While they’re leaving they see Jordana again who asks Eileen to coffee. Tommy tells her she’s filth and if she had any decency she’d stay away from Jordana, who deserves better friends. Harsh! And true.

Michael heads off to Herbie The Jew’s house, against Freddie’s wishes, to collect. While there he starts to black out a bit and lose time, and loses a fight against Herbie’s bodyguard only to shoot him dead. Herbie tries to escape out a window but Michael beats him to it and shoots him as well. At least this time when he goes to dump the bodies he’s wearing gloves! Then he heads back to the bar to tell Freddie what he did, giving him money from Herbie’s house, and tells him he’s back to work on Monday.

Eileen heads back to the girls’ school because Noni forgot her backpack, and runs into Jordana again. The pair end up having lunch together and are building a friendship, despite what Eileen has done to the woman in the past.

Deco calls Michael, and tells him it was the Russians who hurt him after all. Michael says he’s a good friend for looking into it, not remembering it was Deco who did it after all.

Tommy met with the feds again to tell them he knows they sent that man after him, trying to bribe him. Tommy lets them know he’s sent the guy on to another guy in the senate, who just so happens to be the guy they can’t get to vote their way. Turns out to be a win for everyone! After work Tommy heads to the house he’s renovating and Freddie Cork meets him there, offers to buy the house from him at cost when it’s done. (slime) He tells Tommy that Michael wants to be let back into the game, and Tommy tells him to let him back in, despite the reality if he screws up he’ll be shot. They talk about their kids and their shady dealings and Freddie heads out. Looks like Tommy’s taken over the role of shady Caffey in the family!
