“The Devil’s Threesome” - Californication recap
Just when you think things can’t get any worse for Hank and company, this episode happens. From Charlie and Marcy figuring out how to live separate lives to Karen discovering she might not be as over Hank as she thought she was, Mia might take the cake this time with her conniving ways.
For the whole recap, keep on reading!
Now that his marriage is in the pooper, Charlie’s staying at Hank’s, talking about picking up “new pussy” and trying to convince Hank to join in the fun. Surprisingly Hank’s not into it now that he’s decided to do everything in his power to get Karen back. Finally Charlie convinces Hank to head with him to the gym later that evening, get their old man bodies into shape for picking up women, not that Hank needs to go to the gym and work out to get a woman into his bed.
(what are dolphin shorts, btw? I know what hanging brain is, but we here are stuck on that first one.)
Dani’s still at Charlie’s and talking about wanting to stay on and train to be an agent. Charlie doesn’t want her there, but she threatens to go to HR with their relationship, promising they’ll be very interested in the spankings and various other S&M actions. She gives the Suicide Girls a bad name! But Charlie’s stuck, so he sets her to the slush pile to find a good book.
At the gym (a boxing gym none the less) Hank realizes the trainer in volleyball shorts knows him from a past encounter. Even while boxing she does the pucker thing with her lips all chicks do when they find a guy hot. Charlie’s clearly got the hots for her, though.
Mia shows up for her meeting with Charlie, but he’s not there. Dani meets with her instead, reading Hank’s book disguised as Mia’s. The little twit actually waits at the receptionist desk while Dani reads it, she’s so afraid of letting it out of her sight.
Hank’s strapped into a boxing jock over his jeans, and boxing chick starts to wail on him, busting his lip while she tells him how she spent the night in his apartment and then he didn’t call her back. Someone’s got some anger issues, and maybe boxing instructor isn’t the best job for her?! I do like the pink gloves on Hank, however.
“everybody’s the star of their own little romantic comedy” … gotta hand it to Hank for dishing out the best lines. Ever.
Mia and Dani share more words, and Mia gets more and more annoying by the second. After being told what she already knows, that Hank’s book is golden, she gets Dani to be her agent. They head to coffee to discuss, and in the end she agrees to let Dani represent her. Side note … does Mia’s butt-chin annoy anyone else? It looks like Jaslene (from ANTM)!
With the abuse out of her system, Laura calls Charlie telling him she’ll meet the boys at their place later that night. On their way out of the bar, they run into Karen and Marcy heading into the same bar. The pair have serious words, and then the girls head into the bar as the men head back to the house to meet Laura. She’s instantly slutty on Hank, licking her lips and trying desperately to get him in bed with her again.
Karen and Marcy are having just as much fun as the boys are. Marcy’s done with chicks already, and she lets it slip that she misses Charlie, but not as much as she misses the four of them all hanging out together. Then she lets it slip that Hank bought Karen a ring, which is something she doesn’t move past very fast. It looks like she still has a ton more feelings for Hank than she’s willing to admit.
Too bad for Hank, his sleep is interrupted by Charlie telling him that they need to have a threesome. So creepy! And yet somehow Hank agrees, and the three enter some sort of messed up friendship threesome thing. I guess I didn’t think boys were this willing to do that sort of thing. As the threesome is happening in Hank’s bedroom, Karen and Marcy head on over to the house to try to make nice with the boys, walking in on the creepiness en process.
So much for Karen and Marcy being the loves of their lives.
